False Rue Anemone
Isopyrum biternatum

  • Flower: White, anemone-like flowers, 1/2" wide, single on stalks rising in axils of leaves. Petal-like sepals mostly 5, (petals absent); stamens numerous; pistils several.
  • Leaves: Alternate, compound, with broadly ovate, 3-lobed leaflets, each about 1/2" long.
  • Height: Height: 4-12".
  • Habitat: Rich woods and thickets.

Habitat and flowers are similar to Rue Anemone, but the compound leaves have 3 deeply lobed leaflets, rather than the rounded lobes of it's cousin. Its appearance is also sturdier than true Rue Anemone.
