Spring Beauty
Claytonia virginica

  • Flower: White, often veined with pink or red, 1/2-3/4" wide; sepals 2; petals 5; stamens 5 with pink anthers.
  • Leaves: Opposite, entire: 2-8" long, usually a single pair, dark green, linear, tapering at both ends, present midway up stem.
  • Height: Height: 6-12".
  • Habitat: Moist woods, thickets, clearings.
  • Blooms: March-May.

A low plant with loose clusters of pink or whitish flowers, striped with dark pink.
