Twinleaf
Jeffersonia diphylla
- Flower: Single White flowers, regular, 8-12 petals
- Leaves: basal leaves on long stalks, divided into 2
leaflets
- Size: Flowers 1" across; plant 5-10" high in bloom
- Habitat: Rich woods
- Blooms: April-May
Twinleaf seems to be in bloom for a span of about 4 dayssome
years I miss it entirely. If you miss the flower, you can still
catch the distinctive seed pod, which looks sort of like a butterfly
chrysylis. Plentiful in Hinkley and Brecksville Reservations,
I have yet to see it in the lower Rocky River valley.
